Licence Types

Light Rigid (LR)

A Light Rigid vehicle is a vehicle more than 4.5 tones but not more than 8 tonnes GVM or which seats more than 12 people (including the driver). Drivers participating in this course must have held a Victorian Car Licence for a minimum period of 12 months.

Medium Rigid (MR)

A Medium Rigid vehicle is any 2 axle rigid vehicle, including truck & bus, greater than 8 tones GVM. Drivers participating in this course must have held a Victorian Car Licence for a minimum period of 12 months.

Heavy Rigid (HR)

A Heavy Rigid Vehicle is a vehicle 8 tones GVM and above, with 3 or more axles, including truck & bus. Drivers participating in this course must have held a Victorian Car Licence for a minimum period of 24 months.

Heavy Combination (HC)

A Heavy Combination vehicle is:

a) A prime move to which is attached a single semi-trailer that has a GVM more than 9 tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly; or

b) A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a trailer that has a GVM more than 9 tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly.

Drivers participating in this course must have held a Current MR or HR Licence for a minimum period of 12 months.

Multi Combination (MC)

A Multi Combination vehicle is a Heavy Combination vehicle with more than one trailer. Drivers participating in this course must have held a HR licence for a minimum of 12 months, and have a current HC licence.

Licence Fees (Monday – Saturday)

LR: 6hours at $780
MR: 6hours at $780
HR: synchromesh 6hours at $895
HR: non-synchromesh 8hours at 1145

HC: (auto/manual) 8hours at $1145

MC: 8hours at $1445
