Government-funded places are available for eligible candidates to obtain their truck licences, on completion of Certificate III Warehousing Operations.
Light Rigid (LR)
A vehicle greater than 4.5 tonnes but no greater than 8 tonnes GVM. You are eligible for a Light Rigid licence after holding a drivers licence for 1 year.
Medium Rigid (MR)
Any rigid vehicle with two axles, including a truck or bus, greater than 8 tonne GVM, plus a trailer of no more than 9 tonnes GVM. Must have held a Class C licence for 12 months. Minimum age to apply: 19.
Heavy Rigid (HR)
Any rigid vehicle with 3 or more axles, including a truck or bus, (HR) greater than 8 tonnes GVM, plus a trailer of no more than 9 tonnes GVM; and an articulated bus. Must have held a class C licence for two years and class LR/MR for 12 months, or satisfactorily completed an approved training course. Minimum age to apply: 20.
Heavy Combination (HC)
Prime-mover or single semi-trailer exceeding 9 tonnes, or rigid vehicle plus trailer greater than 9 tonne GVM. Note: to apply for this category, you must have held an Australian car driver’s licence for at least 24 months and a Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid licence for at least 12 months.
Multi Combination (MC)
You are eligible for a Multi Combination licence if you hold a current HC vehicle licence.
